In August 2010, Carolina Carports Inc. joined forces with Paul Jr. Designs of the hit Discovery Channel Series “American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior” to build a custom CCI Chopper. The motorcycle was built over a month and a half to be revealed in front of a record crowd at the Mt. Airy Autumn Leaves Festival, downtown Mt. Airy on October 9th, 2010.
The journey began when a CCI employee brought up the idea of having a motorcycle built by PJD after seeing the show American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior. CCI contacted PJD through email and within a couple hours, were on the phone with Paul Jr. and Joe Puliafico. In early September, members of CCI's upper management travelled with New York to meet with Paul Jr. and further discuss the possibility of a build. After meeting with Paul Jr. and his team at PJD, CCI owner, Adela Herrera knew that this was something that she wanted to do.
CCI provided PJD with forms, brochures, photos and product samples to aide in the concept of the bike. Paul Jr. was intent that the final design would be a surprise, a one of a kind PJD chopper. After several weeks of emails and phone calls, CCI employees were anxious to the see the final result.
When considering the unveil of the bike, CCI owners, Adela and Javier Herrera wanted to make sure that everyone at CCI as well as our local community would have the opportunity to share in the experience. CCI chose to unveil the bike twice. The first unveil took place at CCI's corporate headquarters in front of CCI employees, their families and a special invited guests. The second unveil took place in Historic Downtown Mount Airy, NC at the Autumn Leaves Festival in front of a crowd of thousands.
CCI is currently in the process of designing a trailer which will haul the CCI Custom Chopper to events throughout the United States. The bike will be on display at CCI Division locations, CCI Super Sales Centers as well as other special events. The tour will begin in early Summer 2011. An updated tour schedule will be available at www.carolinacarportsinc.com.
